Synapse Wireless to Host First Ever STEM-Focused Educational Day for Huntsville, AL Youngsters

SNAPkids engages local students with hands-on activities focused around Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics

Huntsville, Alabama (March 9, 2016) – Synapse Wireless, an Internet of Things (IoT) company specializing in providing software, hardware, and networking solutions to develop, deploy, and manage the "Things" in IoT, announced today that they will host their first ever SNAPkids educational session, which has been designed to teach youngsters about the fundamentals of engineering-related topics. This day-long session will provide hands-on activities that will cover topics such as the basic fundamentals of logic, problem solving, electricity, gravity, friction, computer programming, mathematics and more. In addition to the educational curriculum, the students will participate in many interactive activities that are designed to pique their interest in STEM while teaching them life-long lessons in a collaborative learning environment.

“We are thrilled to roll out this program and introduce our passion to the future leaders of this country,” said George Myers, Synapse CEO.

“Technology plays an enormous role in everything we do – getting kids exposed to all of the possibilities that they can one day spearhead is an honor and a privilege. We hope they leave Synapse wanting to learn more and gain curiosity about everything around them.”

SNAPkids will be held at Synapse headquarters, in Research Park, Huntsville, AL, and will coincide with both Huntsville City and Madison City spring breaks. The sessions are open to Synapse families only, ages 7-13, with the goal to expand the program to a wider range of students for next year’s event.

“Synapse has a culture that is unlike any organization or company I have ever experienced – it’s no surprise the entire team wanted to be part of this initiative.” said Megan Nivens, Synapse Director of Marketing.

“Our team gets to constantly fuel the innovation around the ‘what if?’- type scenarios on a daily basis. Whether it’s working alongside our customers to deliver solutions that result in transformational business value, or holding our own employee-driven Hackathons where we create unique, out-of-the-box IoT applications – it’s an environment that’s worth sharing. We’re hoping our little graduates enjoy their time, but also leave wondering ‘what if’ and embark on ways to constantly innovate.”

In addition to hosting the first SNAPkids educational day, Synapse employees also mentor local students through the FIRST Robotics organization. Additionally, Synapse supports local community organizations to include St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, Manna House and the Huntsville Botanical Gardens.
